Services
Based in Boston, our practice creates a comfortable, safe, and collaborative environment. We work together to meet goals in therapy which may be short term or long term. We do this by using evidence based approaches such as relational and attachment based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Kaitlin Spitz, the founder of Bending Birch Counseling, provides clinical supervision to therapists that would like to grow and hone their skills in their own practice. She also provides new clinicians in the allied mental health field supervision to help them further develop their clinical skills and approach to counseling and treatment. Kaitlin creates a interactive and feedback oriented environment that provides space for consultation and collaboration to help with challenging cases and treatment outcomes.
Therapy is grounded in research supported approaches that help clients make meaningful change.
Our Approach
-
Cognitive behavioral therapy’s goal is to change unhelpful and negative thought patterns and behaviors that cause emotional distress. You will learn goal-oriented skills to change these habits and cope with challenges.
-
ACT is a mindfulness-based therapy that helps us learn how to accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them. It teaches us to look at our personal values and commit to action and create a more meaningful life even with challenges.
-
DBT is used to help us learn skills to manage and intense emotion and reduce self destructive behaviors. Clients learn to accept, validate, and change their behaviors. We learn to accept ourselves as we are AND work to move forward by coping and changing how we manage painful emotions.
-
Therapy that focuses on how your relationships -past and present- shape the way you think, feel, and interact with others. This therapy is especially helpful for concerns such as attachment issues, trauma, anxiety, and feeling stuck in interpersonal patterns.
